Moderate magnitude 4.3 quake hits 85 km northwest of Leh, India around noon

Just 17 minutes ago, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Leh, Leh Ladakh, Ladakh, India. The tremor was recorded around noon on Monday 24 May 2021 at 12:04 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 209.8 km below the surface.

The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Kargil (pop. 13,800, 69 km away), and Leh (pop. 37,500, 85 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
