Small 3.2 quake hits near False Pass, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA

3.2 quake 6 Jun 5:56 am (GMT -8)
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 13 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include False Pass (pop. 40) located 16 miles from the epicenter. In Cold Bay (pop. 120, 39 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake near Coachella, Riverside County, California, USA, was reported only 8 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US.
