The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Talagang (pop. 45,000) located 28 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Pindi Gheb (pop. 34,300) located 31 km from the epicenter, Chakwal (pop. 101,200) 35 km away, Kallar Kahar (pop. 15,800) 42 km away, Rawalpindi (pop. 1,743,100) 67 km away, Gujar Khan (pop. 69,400) 69 km away, Attock City (pop. 85,500) 73 km away, and Islamabad (pop. 601,600) 78 km away.
