4.6 quake 8.7 km southeast of Leh, India, 18 Jul 2021 10:09 am (GMT +5:30)
The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Leh (pop. 37,500) located 9 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Padam (pop. 25,000) located 98 km from the epicenter.
