Significant 5.5 quake hits near Borazjan, Bushehr, Iran

5.5 quake 43 km north of Borazjan, Bushehr, Iran, 18 Jul 7:04 pm (GMT +4:30)
Our monitoring service identified a second report from France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.4. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.5.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Borazjan (pop. 86,100) located 43 km from the epicenter, Bandar-e Genāveh (pop. 52,800) 53 km away, Kāzerūn (pop. 94,500) 57 km away, and Nūrābād (pop. 64,000) 70 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Buschehr (pop. 165,400) located 77 km from the epicenter, and Dogonbadan (pop. 94,600) 85 km away.
