Moderate magnitude 4.2 quake hits 64 km southeast of Ende, Indonesia in the morning

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Indonesia near Ende, East Nusa Tenggara, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Wednesday 21 July 2021 at 8:42 am local time at a shallow depth of 27 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Ende (pop. 77,200) located 64 km from the epicenter, and Maumere (pop. 47,600) 76 km away.
