Just 14 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Victoria, Victoria County, Texas, USA. The tremor was recorded around noon on Wednesday 21 July 2021 at 12:19 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 3 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Smiley (pop. 570) located 7 miles from the epicenter, and Nixon (pop. 2,500) 11 miles away. In Cuero (pop. 7,100, 21 miles away), Seguin (pop. 27,900, 35 miles away), Victoria (pop. 67,600, 45 miles away), Schertz (pop. 43,100, 47 miles away), and New Braunfels (pop. 70,500, 48 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
