Moderate magnitude 4.9 earthquake 121 km northwest of Davila, Philippines

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.9 quake in the Philippines near Davila, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos, 34 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Friday 6 August 2021 at 7:38 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 32.2 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Davila (pop. 3,500) located 121 km from the epicenter.
