Small 3.6 quake hits near Bakersfield, Kern County, California, USA

Just 10 minutes ago, a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Bakersfield, Kern County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Friday 6 August 2021 at 7:37 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.9 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.6 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Mettler (pop. 140) located 7 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lamont (pop. 15,100) located 18 miles from the epicenter, Arvin (pop. 20,900) 19 miles away, Bakersfield (pop. 373,600) 23 miles away, Rosedale (pop. 14,100) 24 miles away, and Oildale (pop. 32,700) 27 miles away. In Valencia (pop. 148,500, 49 miles away), Ventura (pop. 96,800, 54 miles away), and Santa Clarita (pop. 182,400, 55 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
