Moderate magnitude 4.3 earthquake 64 km southeast of Aizawl, India

The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from Thailand's Earthquake Observation Division (TMD) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.3.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Khawhai (pop. 2,500) located 25 km from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include North Vanlaiphai (pop. 3,500) located 51 km from the epicenter, Serchhip (pop. 20,200) 54 km away, Thenzawl (pop. 6,000) 62 km away, Aizawl (pop. 265,300) 64 km away, Sāitlaw (pop. 11,000) 90 km away, Lunglei (pop. 52,700) 92 km away, and Churāchāndpur (pop. 47,800) 97 km away.
