An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred only 15 minutes ago 79 km west of Basco, Philippines, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.

The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Basco, Batanes, Cagayan Valley, Philippines, after midnight on Sunday, October 31st, 2021, at 12:09 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake.
