Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.4 just reported 21 km southeast of Pagadian, Philippines

Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines. The tremor was recorded around noon on Thursday, November 18th, 2021, at 12:30 pm local time, at a great depth of 597 km below the surface.

The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Caromatan (pop. 5,300, 11 km away), Muricay (pop. 132,100, 17 km away), Pagadian (pop. 186,900, 21 km away), Tangub (pop. 29,700, 36 km away), Molave (pop. 21,100, 39 km away), Mahayag (pop. 17,100, 44 km away), Ozamiz (pop. 93,100, 50 km away), Iligan (pop. 342,600, 86 km away), and Cotabato City (pop. 179,400, 91 km away), the quake was probably not felt.

The earthquake hit late at night on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, at 11:13 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 5 km.
