An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 16 minutes ago 33 miles northwest of Stevens Village, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5.8 miles beneath the epicenter near Stevens Village, Yukon-Koyukuk, Alaska, USA, early morning on Sunday, December 19th, 2021, at 6:08 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Stevens Village (pop. 78, 33 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
