Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 106 km northwest of Islamabad, Pakistan in the morning

4.7 quake 12 Jan 10:27 am (GMT +5)

India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in Pakistan near Islamabad, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, at 10:27 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 60 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Islamabad (pop. 601,600) located 106 km from the epicenter.
