Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.3 just reported 49 km south of Ayutla de los Libres, Mexico

Just 26 minutes ago, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Ayutla de los Libres, Guerrero, Mexico. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Friday, August 5th, 2022, at 8:40 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 4 km below the surface.

The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Pico del Monte (pop. 590) located 11 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
