Moderate magnitude 4.6 earthquake 95 km south of Guatemala, Guatemala

Just 27 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Guatemala, Municipio de Guatemala, Departamento de Guatemala. The tremor was recorded late at night on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at 10:39 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 76 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.6 as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.6, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.8, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Iztapa (pop. 4,000) located 24 km from the epicenter, San Jose (pop. 18,700) 34 km away, Amatitlan (pop. 71,800) 78 km away, Villa Canales (pop. 122,200) 78 km away, Petapa (pop. 141,500) 80 km away, Santa Lucia Cotzumalguapa (pop. 62,100) 80 km away, Villa Nueva (pop. 406,800) 83 km away, Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala (pop. 39,400) 89 km away, Mixco (pop. 473,100) 94 km away, and Guatemala (pop. 994,900) 95 km away.
