The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in Poland near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesia, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Saturday, March 18th, 2023, at 5:16 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sieroszowice (pop. 420) located 2 km from the epicenter, Przemkow (pop. 6,500) 9 km away, Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 10 km away, Chocianow (pop. 8,200) 11 km away, Glogow (pop. 68,500) 19 km away, and Lubin (pop. 77,500) 23 km away.
