Small magnitude 3.4 earthquake 53 km south of Kalamata, Greece

Just 20 minutes ago, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Kalamata, Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. The tremor was recorded early morning on Friday, May 26th, 2023, at 2:07 am local time, at a shallow depth of 15 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.4.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Koroni (pop. 1,600) located 26 km from the epicenter, Methoni (pop. 1,200) 40 km away, and Methoni (pop. 1,200) 40 km away. In Pylos (pop. 2,300, 48 km away), Paralia Vergas (pop. 2,000, 50 km away), Gythio (pop. 4,300, 52 km away), Kalamata (pop. 54,100, 53 km away), Messeni (pop. 6,800, 53 km away), and Sparta (pop. 16,200, 66 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
