Ramu Urban, Gusap, Madang Province (35.4 km WNW of epicenter) [Map] / Strong shaking (MMI VI) / horizontal (sideways) swinging : The whole place was shaking. We could see the Ramu Sugar Factory shaking and hear steel clattering 500 meters away. Even banana trees were permanently bent because of this. | 7 users found this interesting.  
Goroka Town, EHP (84.6 km W of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / 20-30 s : I was indoors and felt the house shaking and was making my way outside when it got stronger and rattled things on the shelves and table. However, none of these fell to the floor. The shaking lasted for 25-30 seconds or so. | One user found this interesting.  
Tereran, Morobe Province (63.4 km SE of epicenter) [Map] / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : The shaking was very strong with power poles swinging back and forth violently causing black out... Things from the shelf were thrown to the floor and it came with a kind of rushing sound moving horizontal and vertically..  
Lae (152.4 km ESE of epicenter) [Map] / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) / both vertical and horizontal swinging : I was walking home after work and felt like dizzy feeling and I just stopped and sat on the grass. I saw trees and poles swaying to and fro so I knew it was an earthquake.

As a result there was power outage that lasted for almost 2 hours before restored back
