Las Brias / MMI III (Weak shaking): Was reading in bed when heard what sounded like a very loud explosion. It woke up my husband who is a sound sleeper. Our room is on the first floor facing the ocean and close proximity to the water - it was scary. We live in an earthquake zone on Vancouver Island, BC and experience many shakers but I haven't heard a noise as load as this one before.
