Arrowtown / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : I’m from the US, and this was my first earthquake! Without prior experience with earthquakes, it may have seemed stronger than it really was. For me, it seemed like moderate shaking (the house and bed were moving) for about 10 seconds. I wondered if there was some big construction or someone was running their car into the house at first!
Queenstown / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : Just had time to wonder what's happened. Felt the door and the bed smoothy shaking.
Queenstown / Moderate shaking (MMI V)
Queenstown (New Zealand, 86 km E of epicenter) : Very brief shake but noticeable in Queenstown (reported through EMSC)
