An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred only 7 minutes ago 45 miles northeast of Wasilla, Alaska, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 12 miles beneath the epicenter in the morning on Saturday 21 November 2020 at 8.20 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Chickaloon (pop. 300) located 13 miles from the epicenter, Glacier View (pop. 200) 16 miles away, and Sutton-Alpine (pop. 1,400) 22 miles away.
