Just 19 minutes ago, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Humahuaca, Argentina. The tremor was recorded around noon on Sunday 29 November 2020 at 1.40 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service at VolcanoDiscovery identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.7 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage. Moderate shaking probably occurred in Humahuaca (pop. 11,400) located 37 km from the epicenter, and Tilcara (pop. 5,600) 53 km away.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Maimara (pop. 2,500) located 57 km from the epicenter, Calilegua (pop. 5,200) 61 km away, Libertador General San Martin (pop. 49,300) 63 km away, Oran (pop. 74,100) 71 km away, San Salvador de Jujuy (pop. 305,900) 107 km away, and Salta (pop. 512,700) 174 km away.

- Muy bien descripto, pero como es posible detectar el engrosamiento del cabello?
- Lo que sintio probablemente indique un epicentro sobre el suelo de su lugar, el mareo es característico cuando ciertas ondas asociadas interactúan con las ondas cerebrales, es peligroso, favor verifique si sufrió ademas engrosamiento de pelo o alguna otra consecuencia, hablaríamos de un sismo multicentro con a lo menos un epi sobre el suelo a menos que su localidad se encuentre bajo la altura d l epicentro naturalmente.
