An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred only 21 minutes ago 51 km south of Pinotepa Nacional, Mexico, Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Pinotepa Nacional, Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, Mexico, around noon on Wednesday 2 December 2020 at 1.09 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Tuza (pop. 250) located 35 km from the epicenter, Corralero (pop. 1,700) 39 km away, and El Carrizo (pop. 1,700) 42 km away.
