An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred early morning on Thursday 24 December 2020 at 4:20 am local time near Antofagasta, Provincia de Antofagasta, Chile, as reported by the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 63.3 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
