Just 10 minutes ago, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Silver Peak, Esmeralda County, Nevada, USA. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Saturday 26 December 2020 at 8:17 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.8 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Silver Peak (pop. 110) located 16 miles from the epicenter, and Dyer (pop. 260) 20 miles away. In Goldfield (pop. 270, 30 miles away), Big Pine (pop. 1,800, 39 miles away), Wilkerson (pop. 560, 40 miles away), West Bishop (pop. 2,600, 41 miles away), Tonopah (pop. 2,500, 46 miles away), and Round Valley (pop. 440, 47 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
