The Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INETER) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Guatemala near Puerto San José, Municipio de San José, Departamento de Escuintla, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Saturday 2 January 2021 at 9:14 pm local time at a shallow depth of 22 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
