oamaru north / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : Was asleep and it woke me up. First time in my life I feel it so I can't compare with others but it was enough to wake me up and realize I felt my bed like if I was falling in my sleep. (Oamaru North)
North Oamaru / Weak shaking (MMI III) / 1-2 s : Heard a sound similar to distant artillery fire closely followed by weak jolt. Lying awake in bed on ground floor.
Oamaru (3.4 km SE of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / 1-2 s : Both the sound and shaking woke me up.
OAMARU / not felt / single vertical bump / very short : Felt like short jolt like a truck had hit the house no damage
Tees street Oamaru / not felt : I heard a roar that woke me up in Tees st Oamaru.
Oamaru / Very weak shaking (MMI II) / rattling, vibrating / 5-10 s : Was asleep woke with a noise & the house creaking only lasted briefly we sleep up stairs
Oamaru north / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / single lateral shake / 2-5 s
