Just 24 minutes ago, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Huanuni, Pantaleón Dalence, Oruro, Bolivia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Thursday 28 January 2021 at 4:21 am local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 255.5 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.4 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Challapata (pop. 8,000, 40 km away), Huanuni (pop. 15,500, 46 km away), Llallagua (pop. 28,100, 55 km away), and Oruro (pop. 208,700, 76 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
