Just 6 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Zagreb, HR.21.3186885, Croatia. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Friday 5 February 2021 at 9:02 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Setuš (pop. 160) located 3 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Petrinja (pop. 13,900) located 16 km from the epicenter, Lekenik (pop. 1,900) 18 km away, Kutina (pop. 14,900) 28 km away, Glina (pop. 3,100) 35 km away, Hrvatska Kostajnica (pop. 2,700) 35 km away, Lipovljani (pop. 2,800) 39 km away, and Sesvete (pop. 52,400) 41 km away.
