the United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.3 quake in the United States near Munina, Kenai Peninsula County, Alaska, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Monday 8 February 2021 at 11:16 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 65 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.3.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Munina (pop. 880, 34 miles away), Kalifornsky (pop. 7,900, 46 miles away), and Kenai (pop. 7,700, 50 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
