3.6 quake 22 Feb 7:38 am (GMT -9)
The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.6 quake in the United States near Perryville, Lake and Peninsula County, Alaska, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Monday 22 February 2021 at 7:38 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 24 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Perryville (pop. 110, 32 miles away), Chignik Lagoon (pop. 78, 33 miles away), and Chignik Lake (pop. 73, 33 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
