Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.8 quake in the Philippines near Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Davao, only 14 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early afternoon on Sunday 14 March 2021 at 2:07 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 138 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sarangani (pop. 7,500) located 87 km from the epicenter, and Caburan (pop. 12,600) 93 km away.
