3.1 quake 25 Mar 3:00 am (GMT -7)
An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred early morning on Thursday 25 March 2021 at 3:00 am local time near Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada, USA, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 6 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Mina (pop. 160, 21 miles away), and Tonopah (pop. 2,500, 34 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.

Info: The more agencies report about the same quake and post similar data, the more confidence you can have in the data. It takes normally up to a few hours until earthquake parameters are calculated with near-optimum precision.
