An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred only 11 minutes ago 100 km southeast of Akureyri, Iceland, the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 4 km beneath the epicenter near Akureyri, Akureyrarkaupstaður, Northeast, Iceland, in the evening on Friday 26 March 2021 at 8:16 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
