An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in the morning on Monday 5 April 2021 at 9:28 am local time near Aksu, Xinjiang, China, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 1 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
