An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred only 26 minutes ago 40 km northeast of Acapulco de Juarez, Mexico, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 33 km beneath the epicenter near Acapulco de Juarez, Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero, Mexico, early morning on Friday 9 April 2021 at 2:36 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in La Union (pop. 34) located 3 km from the epicenter, Tierra Colorada (pop. 11,500) 21 km away, Xaltianguis (pop. 7,000) 21 km away, Kilometro 30 (pop. 6,300) 23 km away, and San Marcos (pop. 13,300) 27 km away.
