Just 9 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Cedar City, Iron County, Utah, USA. The tremor was recorded early morning on Sunday 25 April 2021 at 6:29 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 1.7 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Enoch (pop. 6,300) located 1 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cedar City (pop. 30,200) located 8 miles from the epicenter, and Louisa (pop. 2,900) 12 miles away. In Beaver (pop. 3,000, 40 miles away), and Hurricane (pop. 15,500, 45 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
