India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported a magnitude 5.1 quake in Afghanistan near Qarāwul, Imām Şāḩib, Kunduz, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Friday 14 May 2021 at 5:02 am local time at an intermediate depth of 148.9 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.9 earthquake. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.7.
