3.7 quake 8 Jul 4:01 pm (GMT -7)
An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred only 23 minutes ago 38 miles southeast of South Lake Tahoe, California, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 1.1 miles beneath the epicenter near South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, California, USA, in the afternoon on Thursday 8 July 2021 at 4:01 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Walker (pop. 720) located 2 miles from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
