Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in Indonesia near Singaparna, West Java, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday 23 August 2021 at 4:13 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Singaparna (pop. 48,900) located 113 km from the epicenter.
