Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck near Faizabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. The tremor was recorded early evening on Monday, September 13th, 2021, at 7:59 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 196.6 km below the surface.
The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Leningrad (pop. 12,000, 63 km away), Kŭlob (pop. 78,800, 83 km away), Faizabad (pop. 44,400, 96 km away), Hulbuk (pop. 21,700, 97 km away), and Chubek (pop. 19,600, 98 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
