3.5 quake Yakutat City and Parish, Alaska, USA, Sep 14, 2021 5:43 pm (GMT -8)
The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.5 quake in the United States near Yakutat, Yakutat City and, Alaska, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, at 5:43 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 0.5 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.5 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Yakutat (pop. 660, 35 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
