An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 29 minutes ago 51 km southwest of Tonala, Mexico, Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 86 km beneath the epicenter near Tonala, Tonalá, Chiapas, Mexico, early afternoon on Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at 3:22 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake as well.
