Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.1 just reported 32 km northeast of Asahikawa, Japan

4.1 quake 11 Nov 7:07 pm (GMT +9)
4.1 quake 11 Nov 7:07 pm (GMT +9)
An intermediate to deep magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported early evening near Asahikawa, Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, Japan.
According to Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), the quake hit on Thursday, November 11th, 2021, at 7:07 pm local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 230.7 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Kamikawa (pop. 5,300, 10 km away), Asahikawa (pop. 356,600, 32 km away), Nayoro (pop. 26,500, 53 km away), Fukagawa (pop. 26,200, 58 km away), Ashibetsu (pop. 19,100, 61 km away), Shimo-furano (pop. 25,900, 68 km away), Takikawa (pop. 45,100, 76 km away), and Kitami (pop. 113,100, 96 km away), the quake was probably not felt.

Info: The more agencies report about the same quake and post similar data, the more confidence you can have in the data. It takes normally up to a few hours until earthquake parameters are calculated with near-optimum precision.
