Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Mexico near La Libertad, Pitiquito Municipality, altar sonora, only 19 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Thursday, November 25th, 2021, at 12:42 pm local time at a shallow depth of 16 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include La Libertad (pop. 2,800) located 96 km from the epicenter.
