Just 26 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Setif, Algeria. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Sunday, November 28th, 2021, at 9:52 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in BABOR - VILLE (pop. 33,000) located 13 km from the epicenter, Setif (pop. 288,500) 24 km away, El Eulma (pop. 128,400) 27 km away, Aïn Arnat (pop. 35,100) 30 km away, and Lafayette (pop. 38,600) 42 km away.
