An intermediate magnitude 4.6 earthquake was reported in the morning near Port Vila, Shefa Province, Vanuatu.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021, at 7:10 am local time at an intermediate depth of 79.5 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Port Vila (pop. 35,900) located 83 km from the epicenter.
