Moderate magnitude 4.2 quake hits 13 km southeast of Glogow, Poland in the evening

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesia, Poland, was reported only 10 minutes ago by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter in the evening on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022, at 8:53 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 4.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Grębocice (pop. 1,500) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 9 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Glogow (pop. 68,500) located 13 km from the epicenter, Lubin (pop. 77,500) 18 km away, Legnica (pop. 106,000) 39 km away, Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400) 41 km away, and Leszno (pop. 63,600) 42 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700) located 53 km from the epicenter, and Breslau (pop. 634,900) 79 km away.
