Just 22 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Abepura, Papua, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, at 4:11 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 108.2 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), which listed it as a magnitude 4.6 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.6.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Abepura (pop. 62,200) located 115 km from the epicenter.

Hinekombe, Sentani, Kabupaten Jayapura, Papua, Ind / Very weak shaking (MMI II) / horizontal (sideways) swinging / 2-5 s : It felt like a slight swinging or swaying. The sleeping dog in the room didn't seem to notice.
